  34. SYMPOSIUM:  IPPS '93 will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the
  35. Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport
  36. Beach, California.  The symposium is sponsored by IEEE
  37. Computer Society and is held in cooperation with ACM
  38. SIGARCH.  IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and scientists
  39. from around the world to present the latest research
  40. findings in all aspects of parallel and distributed
  41. processing.
  42.  
  43. WORKSHOP: The workshop will be held on the first day of the
  44. symposium (April 13, 1993).  The workshop will focus on the
  45. I/O bottleneck facing parallel computer systems for many
  46. important applications such as multimedia information
  47. systems and volume visualization.  Recognition of the
  48. importance of this problem has been growing steadily, and
  49. proposed solutions include approaches based upon new
  50. hardware, architecture, systems software and algorithms.
  51. The workshop will bring together researchers in order to
  52. foster further research on these approaches and their
  53. integration into comprehensive systems solutions.

  55. Papers are invited demonstrating original unpublished
  56. research.  Topics of interest include, but are not limited
  57. to:
  58.  
  59.     High-speed storage and channels            
  60.     I/O interconnection architectures
  61.     Concurrent file systems
  62.     Compiler support for parallel I/O            
  63.     Scheduling algorithms and heuristics
  64.     Data and resource allocation
  65.     Application profiling and benchmarking
  66.     Performance of I/O subsystems
  67.  
  68. SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed.  The first
  69. page must include a 100-word abstract and the name,
  70. address, telephone number and electronic mail address of
  71. the author to whom correspondence is to be sent.  The
  72. manuscript should be at most 20 pages long (including
  73. figures and references).  Papers will be collected into a
  74. proceedings and distributed at the workshop.  Five copies
  75. of the paper should be sent to one of the two addresses
