- As best I can determine, Symantec never owned the Norton Guides product.
- Sometime around when Symantec took over Norton's other products the
- Guides were sold to Simon and Schuster (the publishing house), which is
- marketing them under the "Brady Software" logo...but still calling
- them "Norton Guides".
-
- I haven't tried them under OS/2 so I can't offer any advice there. The
- last time I bought one (perhaps 18 months back) they were still selling the
- original engine with a marginally updated data base...and had taken out
- some useful items from the assembler guide MASM.NG. Useful but not
- terribly impressive, especially with the large amount of memory required
- for the engine and no support for XMS memory usage.
-
- There are a couple of competing products (whose names escape me) for which
- I've seen ads claiming the ability to use Norton Guides utilities. You
- might check with the European outlet for Programmer's Shop; I think they
- carry these alternate online help products.
