- Questions, questions, and more questions...
-
- I am having a rather difficult time accomplishing what I would like to
- get done. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get with these
- problems.
-
- Background: Our building recently became connected with the rest of
- Ford Motor Co. and we need to get some things straightened out. We are
- running almost solely PC's over Token Ring. We have FTP Corp's PC/TCP
- for OS/2 v1.21 and it works fine. However, I need to do more!
-
- 1) DNS
-
- PC/TCP for OS/2 offers BIND. In the manual, it states I need to
- create a zone file, a number-to-name data file, a cache file, and a
- bootup file. However, it doesn't tell me where to put them or what to
- call them. Is there anybody doing this?
-
- 2) Mail
-
- PC/TCP also offers sendmail, a PCMAILD, and a POP3D. This means I can
- set up my PC as a mailserver, right? I would like to have a single
- machine (or two) in our building be responsible for mail to and from
- Ford. Once again, I am more than a little confused by the manual.
-
- 3) Routing
-
- We also have the need to connect our Symbolics machines (which are on an
- ethernet) to the PC's. I have both an ethernet card and a token ring
- card in my PC. FTP Corp graciously provided us with a routed.exe and a
- man page, but I haven't a clue how to set up the routes. (This may be a
- moot point, though. In the future, we may get an ethernet port put in
- our bridges. That would definitely solve this problem. However, I am
- impatient and love to learn. I would really just like to know if I can
- do this actually. :-)
-
- Thanks again for any help anyone can offer.
