  12. I've noticed that one nice benefit of the WPSBKP shareware program is
  13. that it can be used to shrink the OS2SYS.ini file size, which also results
  14. in increased performance, especially on system initialization.

  16. WPSBKUP is shareware  for backing up the workplace shell.  When you lose
  17. settings in the shell, as I inevitably do, you can restore from the copy
  18. WPSBKUP made.

  20. Shrinking the ini files was not the reason WPSBKUP was created, but it
  21. has the benefit.  When my ini files start growing I backup the shell and
  22. then restore it, according to the procedures in WPSBKUP.  Then my ini
  23. files are small again.

  26. WARNING: You don't want to use the older WPSBKUP versions if you don't
  27. have to.  There was a bug that would lose ini data if a part of the
  28. record in OS2SYS.ini grew to greater than 63K.  The new version has fixed
  29. this problem.  This version is 1.07.  I just uploaded it to hobbes, so it's
  30. at ftp-os2.nmsu.edu in pub/uploads/wpsbkp7.zip (or some name very similar
  31. to that.)  I suppose I culd also mail it to any who cannot ftp from that
  32. site.
