- The COM bps limit is still the same: 57,600 bps. (DMA hardware,
- available on many IBM machines, may boost that figure.) That is the
- theoretical (or, more precisely, implemented) maximum. The practical
- maximum depends on system load, system capabilities, type of
- handshaking enabled, type of software in use, and type of
- communications device/cable.
