- I had a similar looking problem running an application under dBASE IV.
- It ran fine if I booted from a DOS disk or ran it from a VMD, but not in
- a OS/2 DOS-box. The dBASE error message said that there were too many files
- open.

- The problem, however, is NOT in the number of files that are open.
- The thing to check is the line DOS_VERSION in the DOS-settings.

- Some DOS programs may refuse to run under OS/2's DOS emulator because
- they insist on a particular version of DOS. The offended program
- apparently checks what version of the operating system it is running
- under. This way you can tell the DOS-box to fake a certain DOS version.

- It seems like during the OS/2 installation the transfer utility for
- DOS-programs is able to notice this sort of things.
