- Well, I've never heard of a Texel, but if a SCSI CD-ROM drive does not
- use the same command set as a Toshiba or an IBM CD-ROM drive, you will
- have to use the generic CDROM_G (available from ftp-os2.nmsu.edu). You
- will not be able to use the drive to play audio CDs, but it will work
- fine for data access from CD-ROMs on many 'unsupported' SCSI CD-ROM
- drives.
-
- Supposedly, release 2.01 of OS/2 will support many more CD-ROM drives,
- but I don't remember seeing Texel drives on the list...
-
- (Of course, you can usually load the DOS device drivers and be able
- to use the CD-ROM in a DOS session only, but I don't think this is
- what you want).
-
- You might want to check out Corel's OS/2 CD drivers as an alternative
- solution. They support every CD-ROM I have encoutered (with audio support)
- and a whole slew of multi-changer, WORM, and floptical drives are
- supported. I have been using these drivers to run a WORM drive and
- a NEC CDR83 drive for quite some time...the Corel drivers run about
- $70US...
