  12. I have a big problem on my HPFS bot partition. I think it happened in the 
  13. moment when my Adaptec 1542B died. I got a new one but now on 
  14. "CHKDSK D: /f:3" I get the following messasge as often as I do the CHKDSK:

  16.     chkdsk d: /f:3
  17.     the type of file system for the disk is HPFS.
  18.     The HPFS file system program has been started.
  19.     CHKDSK found and corrected a minor file system error.
  20.     CHKDSK corrected an allocation error for the file \OS2\os2.ini.
  21.     CHKDSK is searching disk space that is not allocated.
  22.     CHKDSK has searched 100% of the disk.
  23.     
  24.     140272 kilobytes total disk space.
  25.        227 kilobytes in 192 directories.
  26.     131825 k         in 2401 user files.
  27.          1 kilobyte in bad blocks.
  28.        570 k in ea's
  29.       3431 k res. for sys use
  30.       4218 k available

  32. So it look, as if the error has been corrected. But if I try to boot or
  33. try to copy the OS2.INI to an other name I get:

  42. The only thing I can do is to rename the OS2.INI. But if I try to make a
  43. new one (MAKEINI OS2.INI OS2_20.RC) and reboot all I get is a gray screen and 
  44. a mouse pointer :-(

  46. So: What can I do?  I could make backup to the network and do a 
  47. reinstall and restore. But dont like that.

  49. Why is the bad block not handeled by the SCSI-drive? It should use one
  50. of its sparse blocks if an error occures.
