- I, too, have this problem. I don't recall that it started after a crash,
- but memory may not serve. It is true that I had done a SHIFT-click on
- the maximize button to make the windows open with maximal dimensions for
- 25x80 which worked fine, though I never found a way to undo the change.
- At some point, though, the windows started opening maximized, not just
- "maximal." This is obnoxious because maximized windows want to forget
- their onscreen locations and jump to the upper left corner of the display
- at every oportunity.

- I suppose that you can argue that it makes sense for PM windows to jump
- to the upper left (which I don't necessarily believe to be valid), but
- for VIO & VDM windows, it's a pain.

- an offset from the last, although they will jump to the upper left at
