- I have two syquest drives attached to my Adaptec 1542b. When I
- use lockdrv.flt, the performance is much better (order of magitude)
- than just treating the syquest drive as a big floppy drive. The
- disadvantage is that I can't interchange the cartridge. Why is there
- such a drastic speed difference? Furthermore, when I copy folders with
- large number of files into the syquest drives, more often than not, the
- system responds with error messages saying the drives are not working
- or wasn't formated correctly. At least, it doesn't just crash ; before
- I had applied the CSD it would definitely crash when I drag a huge
- folder (over 5 meg) into one of the syquest drives. What I had just
- described occured on two different machines. Furthermore, I doubt
- that both syquests were defective ( they both work beautifully when
- conected to a NeXT). Why is IBM so inept in writing scsi drivers?
