-
- Perhaps I should clarify the subject line. I am responsible for OS/2 running
- on four different PC's:
-
- a 386DX/40, a 386sx/25, a 486DX/25 and a 486DX/33.
-
- It runs great on three of them, but the 386sx/25 was crashing in Windows
- programs several times a day. Usually MS Word 2.0a. Both Excel and Word are
- running off a LAN with this setup as the guy only has a 49Meg hard drive (his
- OS/2 partition) and all his apps are on the LAN.
-
- He was crashing and burning far too often..
-
-
- So I did two things that fixed it.
-
- 1. I deleted the swapper.dat file that remained from the GA install and made
- OS/2 allocate a new one.
-
- 2. I migrated the progman.exe to his desktop and he runs all his windows apps
- - seamlessly - from there. Now his system is as solid as a rock.
-
- Either one or both of these changes appear to have resolves his problems.....
-
- Anyone else want to comment?
-
- He has a 3c505 ethernet card, 8 megs of 70ns RAM and runs at 640x480 res (his
- choice). The LAN is a semi-ancient Netware 2.15a.
