- Hello,
-
- I have an Orchid Prodesigner IIs with a Sony 1604 monitor. I've just
- reinstalled OS/2 2.0GA and installed the service pack. I used
- selective install to install the ET4000 1024x768x256 driver that came
- with the service pack. I am trying to get the video card to work
- in a 70hz refresh mode.
-
- When I boot OS/2, everything is fine (70hz refresh, non-interlaced), but
- if I open a DOS or seamless Windows window, the refresh rate drops and
- the video image flickers. I have created a program icon that runs
- "xmode 38" in a DOS full-screen session, and this fixes the problem.
- After I have all the windows open that I want to work in, I just click
- on this icon, and then everything is fine until I open another DOS
- window.
-
- I have tried two suggestions I saw on the net:
-
- 1. DOS fullscreen, svga off, xmode 38, svga on, reboot
- 2. Boot real DOS, do above, and copy svgadata.pmi file to \os2
-
- Neither of these solutions have worked. In fact, they all produce the
- same svgadata.pmi file.
-
- I have called IBM's OS2 support a number of times. I've talked
- with some nice information takers who have taken every shred of
- info I could give them and forwarded it to a video analyst. The
- analyst has now sent me two overnight packages containing solutions.
- The first package contained a photocopy of a page from the service
- pack readme file. He had circled the startup.cmd fix for the
- Diamond Speedstar. Just to humor him, I tried it. Didn't work.
- The second package contained a single disk and a note. The disk
- looks like the last disk from the 3.5" OS/2 service pack. I
- compared it to the 5.25" service pack disks I have, and the files
- were identical. I tried installing it, but it complained that the
- disk wasn't "DISP 1". I wish they would quit wasting money/time
- sending me stuff I already have.
-
- Does anyone have a Prodesigner IIs working in 70hz 1024x768 mode? Is
- this suppose to work?
-
- Jeff
