-
- There is a serious bug in a system call in the Service Pack, which can
- lead to a faulty behaviour of TAR, when extended attributes are
- archived (thanks to Kai Uwe Rommel, who found this bug). The next
- release of GTAK will contain a workaround.
-
- The 32bit OS/2 system call DosQueryPathInfo, which should give
- information about the size of the extended attributes, leaves garbage
- in the respective field. This bug is a flakey one, since it depends on
- some unknown conditions, whether it happens or not. My environment
- never showed this problem in TAR, but when I ran a separate test of
- exactly the same EA code as used in TAR, I got garbage unless compiled
- with IBM C Set/2.
-
- The problem can be avoided by not using this information. It is
- somewhat redundant anyway, since 2.0 GA used to return 65535 as EA size
- independant of the disk EA size.

- I have no FTP access.
