  10. If you have been experiencing SYNC problems in OS/2 full screen sessions,
  11. with the Tseng drivers in 1024x768 res, and the service pack installed,
  12. then the following may be of value to you.

  14. I have had considerable difficulty getting my combination of settings
  15. and drivers going properly.  YES, I've read the README, YES, I've read
  16. the FAQ, YES, I've monitored the queries here without much success.
  17.   
  18. The specific problem I've had is that either OS/2 full screen sessions
  19. do not sync, (if I execute SVGA OFF, VMODE xxx, SVGA ON, and reboot),
  20. or that the 1024x768 PM graphics are compressed top-to-bottom (if I
  21. execute the DSPINSTL, reinstall the drivers and reboot).  No combination
  22. of advice I've gotten in the README or comp.os.os2.misc would give me
  23. the best of both configurations.

  25. So -- I cut and spliced the SVGADATA.PMI files that were generated by
  26. both the SVGA ON command and the DSPINSTL procedure (specifically, I
  27. took the 1024x768 materials from the SVGA ON execution, and the remainder
  28. from the SVGADATA.PMI that was generated by DSPINSTL).

  30. Appended to this message is a uuencoded zip archive (deflated) that 
  31. contains my modified SVGADATA.PMI file.  Use it only if you are pretty
  32. confident that your configuration matches mine closely:

  34.   Diamond Speedstar Plus
  35.   Sony 1304
  36.   VMODE CUSTOM parameters set up as:
  37.     640x480 - 37.6 KHz, 72 Hz, non-interlaced, SYNC=+/+
  38.     800x600 - 48.1 KHz, 72 Hz, non-interlaced, SYNC=+/+
  39.    1024x768 - 48.9 KHz, 60 Hz, non-interlaced, SYNC=+/+
  40.  
  41. I installed the 1024x768 Tseng SVGA driver.

  43. To use the SVGADATA.PMI file that follows, simply copy it to your
  44. \OS2 directory.  (It would be really smart to take a backup of the
  45. existing SVGADATA.PMI file first.)
  46.  
  47. I'm a happy dog now, but I'm not really happy with the way I had to
  48. arrive at this conclusion.  Again, if there was a legitimate way to
  49. get this configured right, I sure have missed it somewhere.
