- I have a Gateway 2000 486/33 with a 321Mb ESDI hard drive on an
- UltraStor controller. The floppy drives are controlled through an
- Archive XL 125Mb tape controller.
-
- When a place a disk in drive a: (a 3.5 inch floppy) and do a dir on
- the disk it reads the directory fine. However, a problem occurs when
- I remove the first floppy and place a new one in. I do a dir and I get
- the directory from the first floppy!
-
- My impression is the directory is read from the cache because the
- media change was not detected. If I overflow the cache (by doing a
- lengthy c: dir) then reread a: it works ok.
-
- In daily work this is not a problem but when I went to install the SP it
- hangs on disk 3 because it still thinks disk 2 is in the drive.
-
- Many thanks for the correct solution.
