- Hello,
- I've installed OS2 2.0 some two weeks ago. I keep beeing irritated by small
- WPS quirks, and I'm wondering whether those are bugs or me...
- Here they are:
- 1) some windows do not remember their settings. For example, I've defined
- the C drive root window to include only File system objects with the archive
- flag set to on (so that I don't see any system or hidden files). Those settings
- disappear as soon as thesystem is rebooted.
- 2) the C drive windows insist on showing both the real name and object name.
- This problem, together with the previous one, and compouneded by the slowness
- of opening directories of more than 50 files, make me wonder what the C drive
- icon is made for... It certainly cannot be used as a file manager. BTW, I've
- tried DIRMAN20: it is better, but still has some strange bugs (sometimes,
- DIRMAN says that directories do not exist, even if it shows them in the
- directory screen).
- 3) in an effort to unclutter the desktop, I've tried to modify the desktop
- popup menu. I wanted to have there my commands prompts (in a cascade menu),
- and also the font and color palettes. First, the interface to modify
- the menus is AWFUL: you have to locate from scratch each program file (i.e.
- locate folder, find all the items, pick the one you want). Second, when
- I install a DOS command prompt (full screen of windowed) and launch it
- from the menu, the following appears: "SYS3006: the drive or path you
- specified with the new COMMAND.COM is invalid". The COMSPEC points to c:\,
- instead of C:\OS2\MDOS. Launching the DOS box by double-clicking the
- icon works fine. I do not see any way to put the font and color palettes
- in the menu: they are not programs. Is there any trick with REXX scripts?
-
- Is there anything to help? BTW, I'm using OS/2 2.0 CSD level XR02000.
