  11.          Hello,
  12.            I have not the Speedstar 24x, but the Stealth 1 meg
  13.          hi-color card.  This card is suppossedly Diamond's top card,
  14.          but I hope they do better.  I am unable to get the card to
  15.          perform except as the 512kb version.  They have replaced my
  16.          card and video drivers twice.  Their tech support is NOT. 
  17.          Bugs appear to exist in almost every video driver they have
  18.          for their card (except the 640x480x16 mode: big deal).
  19.            One final point that one should keep in mind before
  20.          purchasing any card from Diamond: they don't work with most
  21.          monitors.  They come with a SMODE program which will
  22.          configure the card to some specific monitors: NEC 2, 3, 4,
  23.          and 5 series, Crystal Scan, and a couple others.  Samsung is
  24.          NOT supported and there are some monitors which won't even
  25.          work in simple VGA mode.  This surprises me since the
  26.          Samsung 3 is currently one of the most popular monitors. 
  27.          There is a custom setting, but it hangs the computer.  So
  28.          unless you either own a supported monitor, or one whose
  29.          synch and frequency settings match a supported monitor
  30.          EXACTLY, you are taking a chance.
  31.            My friend has the 24x with a NEC 3 series without a
  32.          problem, but is much less than impressed.  His SMODE program
  33.          is identical to mine.  No improvements.  No 800 tech support
  34.          number.  
  35.            In retrospect, I'd suggest either an Ultra or an Orchid. 
  36.          Try to get something with the Sierra chip in it.
