- Sorry if this is an FAQ or just downright stupid, but here goes:

- When I bring up windows, if I start my telecommunications program
- relatively quickly (<5 minutes), I have no problems. If I wait a while
- (especially if I haven't been doing anything and the screen saver is
- running), the port seems to "disappear". The comm program (Telix)
- cannot access the port, and the control panel denies it exists.

- The only way I can recover is to turn off the machine. Restarting
- windows does not help.

- I am using NDW, Telix, and a Quicktel 2400 modem.
