  12. Sorry if this is an FAQ or just downright stupid, but here goes:

  14. When I bring up windows, if I start my telecommunications program
  15. relatively quickly (<5 minutes), I have no problems.  If I wait a while
  16. (especially if I haven't been doing anything and the screen saver is
  17. running), the port seems to "disappear".  The comm program (Telix)
  18. cannot access the port, and the control panel denies it exists.

  20. The only way I can recover is to turn off the machine.  Restarting
  21. windows does not help.

  23. I am using NDW, Telix, and a Quicktel 2400 modem.
