- Well, you take the good with the bad. I ordered a couple of PCs from
- Gateway in March, and was supposed to get Paradox 3.5 with them. The
- PCs arrived within a couple of weeks and have performed flawlessly, but
- I had to call them every so often to ask them where the Paradox was, and
- was invariably told it would ship Real Soon Now. Meanwhile, their ads
- continued to advertise it, then changed to Paradox 4.0, and very
- recently changed to Paradox plus "Turbo Pascal or C++." I assumed that
- they meant Turbo C++, which is still pretty good for free. I was very
- surprised when some boxes finally arrived from Gateway last week---
- about eight months late---containing full sets of disks and manuals for
- Paradox 4.0 and BORLAND C++ 3.1. This is the $495 package with TASM,
- Profiler, Win 3.1 online reference, etc. Combined with Paradox, that's
- about $1300 in free software, and that's in addition to the free DOS 5
- and Win 3.1 that came with the PC. And that's in addition to
- arguably the best price/performance PC out there. This company will be
- unbeatable if they can just keep from irritating their customers with
- late deliveries.
