- ] Well, I'm not so sure about the quality of the S3 drivers. They don't
- ] work with my STB Wind/X card. They must set the scan rates to something
- ] really weird. My 640x480 is scrunched, and the side pin is bowed out.
- ] The 800x600 is even more scrunched, and the 1024x768 causes my monitor
- ] to fully loose sync. At this point I have to re-install NT because I
- ] can't see what I'm doing to try and get back to a previous setting. (My
- ] monitor is a ViewSonic 5+ set to accept scan rates up to 72 hz.)
- ]
- ] So, for now I'm running in plain old VGA mode; slow, but at least I can
- ] see it. MS - did you work with S3 on these drivers? They sure don't
- ] work for me. (And Logitech mouse support would be nice!)

- The problem with the S3 drivers is probably related to the various clock
- generator chips used by different vendors. The same code output from the
- S3 will mean different dot and/or memory clocks on different cards.
-
- Even different versions of the same model card can have subtle differences.
- In the DOS world this was taken care of by the VGA bios. But in NT (and UNIX)
- the bios is inaccessible when NT is running.
