- Dunno the answer, but just wanted to alert you and others that Microsoft
- seems to be working on a general approach to database access from VB.
- Visual Basic 2.0, Professional Edition, has a section on "ODBC Objects,"
- objects with names like "Database" and "TableDefs" and "dynasets," etc.
- and a sample application.
-
- I have the impression this is something that Microsoft would LIKE to
- become a standard -- it's part of WOSA or some such -- and the section is
- short on details of what DRIVERS (i.e. what actual, real-live databases)
- can be used with it -- except that there IS a driver for Microsoft's
- SQL Servers.
-
- If I were doing anything at all regarding coupling VB to a database
- (which I'm not), I'd certainly check out VB 2.0, Professional Edition,
- and I'd certainly start calling my DB vendors to find out whether they
- have any plans to support ODBC.
