- No, unfortunately technical support is not available over the
- Internet. I'm in R&D and Dave is in QA, so we can both respond to
- floods of e-mail by saying that we don't do support. If tech support
- people showed up here, they might have a harder time fending off the
- crowds. Besides, I would expect that someone whose job is to provide
- tech support would not be inclined to spend their spare time doing
- more of it.
-
- As far as official tech support goes, our staff is more than fully
- loaded offering it by telephone and on Compuserve, BIX and Genie, and
- I don't think that management will consider adding support on Internet
- a higher priority than a bunch of other projects that are in progress
- to improve service on those other channels. I am, however, pushing for
- more automated Internet support, such as better accessibility to files
- and information via anonymous ftp and e-mail servers. There are lots
- of logistic details to take care of, but we should be able to make
- steady progress.
-
- We do have people in Customer Service who accept e-mail for questions
- about product info, prices, etc., and customer-support@borland.com
- will reach them. Also, bug reports can be sent to bugs@borland.com
- where they will be checked by QA and submitted to R&D to be fixed, as
- long as the bug report is detailed enough that the bug can be
- reproduced over here, and with the understanding that bugs@borland.com
- is not a tech support address and will not confirm bugs or provide
- fixes or workarounds. That's a compromise I set up to streamline the
- process of getting bugs fixed sooner in future patches, maintenance
- releases or versions of the products.
