  11. Hi, yours truly has been asked to represent Linux in a panel discussion
  12. for a Bay area unix users' group (Silicon Valley). There will be a person
  13. representing Coherent, and Bill Jolitz is going to talk about 386BSD. This will
  14. be on December 2nd, at the Cupertino Public Library. 7pm is the time.

  16. There is supposed to be a lot of people there, and so I'm asking you folks,
  17. Linux users/developers, for a list of things you'd like mentioned... it
  18. may be possible with other OSs to have one or two people accurately relate
  19. their OS's features, but with the multitude of contributors to Linux,
  20. I feel it's necessary to ask for a list of some sort via this newsgroup.
  21. The FAQs offer good info, but I'm also interested in what the future holds,
  22. as the other panelists will no doubt also talk about that topic.

  24. I've asked Ross Biro if he'd like to participate, being that he's close
  25. by and has done a considerable amount of development work. My angle is more
  26. from a user's point of view, porting issues, what's available, why my dog/cat
  27. likes Linux, virtual beer, etc. ;) The idea is to introduce interested
  28. parties to the currently available free/cheap unix packages. If there's
  29. anyone else in the Bay Area who's interested in participating, please email
  30. ASAP.

  32. I don't characterize myself as gung-ho on Linux; I like it a lot but
  33. would not hesitate to use a different OS if it suited me better. Just so
  34. happens Linux does everything I need it to and does it well. So that's
  35. where I'm coming from...
