- OK, I know some of this has been discussed. Actually, probably
- all of it. But I'll ask anyhow because I think I missed something.
-
- 1. I *really* want to get TCP/IP working, but I am not too successful.
- I have messed with paths and links (/usr/etc ==> /etc and all that) and
- I have recompiled /etc/inet/config. However, I think maybe my errors
- are a result of linux's unwillingness to talk to my ethernet card, which
- is a 3Com 3C503. I know there was some discussion about this, but all I
- saw were questions and no answers. Has anyone gotten specs together
- that work for that card? My errors are as follows:
-
- Socket: inavlid argument (two or three times)
- -r - bad address
- ...another "socket, invalid argument"
- ...it starts inetd
- /usr/etc/inet/named.boot: no such file
- /usr/etc/inet/telnetdgetpeername: bad file number
-
- All this is at boot up. The only thing I can see is that "-r -
- bad addres" refers to the fact that config must be complaining. As I
- say, I think it can't see my ethernet card. Any suggestions?
-
- 2. As a result of the above, it seems, X will not run. It says "can't
- establish TCP listening socket...fatal error....giving up." I thought X
- could at least fly without TCP.
-
- 3. Could someone tell me where (if they do exist) I can find drivers
- for the Future Domain 950 chipset? I am running Linux from an old IBM
- ESDI and WD1005, which is fine but I would like to be able to get at the
- SCSI drive as well. I saw something in one or two fo the readme's that
- seemed to imply that these drivers were out there, but I haven't seen
- them yet.
-
- Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
