- Hi Linux wizard!
- I'm trying to install the new SLS release of Linux (0.98p5) on a 386/25.
- Well, I created (with rawdisk) disks a1 and a2 and then booted from it: all
- runs well. Next, I do doinstall /dev/hda2 (60Mb), the program read well disk
- a2 but when I put a3 it says:
-
- ...
- [MS-DOS etc etc ...]
- [me=...]
- No bmap support
- error: you may have inserted the wrong disk, try again?(y/n)
-
- Perhaps I have copied in the wrong way the subdirectories a3...x8 on my
- floppies: What I have done was:
-
- cd .../a3/base.taz.Z-split/part* > ../base.taz.Z
- cd ..
- rm -r base.taz.Z-split
-
- and then ftp-ed all this to a floppy. I think the problem is hard, but
- my system can read minix fs floppies... now, we have a lot of computer
- here; anyone knows if its possible to "dd" the disk on a sun or a 386BSD
- and then go on with installation? I'd like a lot be able to install
- linux...
-
- Any help will be appreciated.
- Sorry if this is a FAQ.
