- I am fairly (read: extremely) ignorant about what makes GCC
- work, and have only the most basic understanding of how jump tables
- and shared-libs work. I am currently trying to upgrade my gcc from
- 2.2.2d to 2.2.2d7 (the one currently on tsx-11), and the process is
- more than a little confusing. Does anyone have the most recent GCC
- working with 0.98pl5? And if so, are you willing to share your
- experiences? I have seen a couple of reports that the shared libs are
- broken under 0.98.5 and am thinking that maybe I should wait for a
- while until something comes out that is guaranteed to work (as much as
- anything is guaranteed to work, at least :-) ... can one install the
- latest GCC without the latest sh_libs, and what about the jump-table?
- Apologies if these are very basic questions, but they are not covered
- in the FAQ's as far as I can tell. My gcc works fine now, so I'm not
- in a terrible rush to do this, but I would like to keep up with
- progress and upgrade sometime soon. Thanks in advance for any help...,
- and as usual, thanks Linus and everyone else for this great OS!
