  15. Version 1.1 is out. You can get it from the usual place, sipb.mit.edu
  16. at pub/seyon. Notable in this version is ZMODEM autodownload and
  17. integrating the dialer into the dialing directory. Please let me know
  18. how it works out for you (i.e. don't send me bug reports only, I'd
  19. like to hear success stories as well). I encourage those interested in
  20. Seyon to joing the Seyon mailing list. I send a copy of each reply to
  21. a letter concerning Seyon to the mailing list, so it would be very
  22. beneficial to join. I'd like to carry out discussions about
  23. suggestions and further development of Seyon there as well. See the
  24. FAQ on how to join.

  26. The following is an introduction, followed by the change log since the
  27. last version.

  29. (NOTE: Seyon now uses an Imake file (see below), so it is essential
  30. that you do 'xmkmf' before proceeding.)

  32. Introduction:
  33. =============

  35.     This is Seyon, an X-based communication package that has its roots
  36.     in xcomm 2.2. Seyon has a descent dialing directory where hosts
  37.     can be chosen by clicking at them. Seyon has the same script
  38.     language as xcomm 2.2, which is quite good. Seyon avoids the
  39.     problematic terminal emulation of minicom and other communication
  40.     programs by using xterm as its terminal emulator. Hence, Seyon can
  41.     emulate vt100 and color ANSI (the latter only if color xterm is
  42.     used). Some non-essential features are still not implemented but
  43.     will be in the near future.  If you use Seyon and like it, please
  44.     let me know by email. This will give me the incentive to continue
  45.     maintaining it. Also let me know how it works out whenever you
  46.     upgrade to a new version.

  48.     Please read the FAQ. I've put a lot of effort into making it
  49.     complete and up-to-date. It serves as the documentation for Seyon
  50.     (until a kind soul writes a good documentation for it).

  52. Changes

  55. Version 1.1:
  56.     * Major revisions to the dialer. The dialer is now integrated into
  57.       the dialing directory instead of having its own popup (no need
  58.       to clutter the screen).
  59.     * Fixed it so that there may be no more than one copy of the
  60.       dialing direcotry. 
  61.     * The transfer popup now pops down after the transfer is
  62.       initiated. Similarly the shell popup.
  63.     * Auto ZMODEM download is now fully supported. See tha FAQ to
  64.       learn how to set it up or disable it (thanks to R. Ramish for
  65.       supplying the auto download string).
  66.     * Seyon now has an Imake file (kindly contributed by David Boyce,
  67.       with minor modifications by me).
  68.     * The dialing directory now 'remembers' its location and size if
  69.       moved or resized interactively.
  70.     * The status area is now fully supported. most of the messages now
  71.       appear there instead of at the terminal.
  72.     * Seyon now shows some 'fun' messages in the status area if it has
  73.       nothing else to say (I know, I got carried away. Anyhow, it can
  74.       be disabled, see the FAQ).
