- OS/2 : requires Shutdown
- Windows with smartdrv: requires "smartdrv /c"
- 386 Unixes: You bet they require sync.
- WinNT: I expect it will need synced (if/when it ships).

- So, if we exclude DOS and the Mac, how many systems do not require
- some type of shutdown. Flip the power on OS/2 with several hundred
- Meg of HPFS data and grab some coffee while it checks the file system.
- And I venture to say that Windows and smartdrv are nearly a definition of
- "the masses".
