- I currently run 0.98.1, skipping the upgrade to 0.98.2 since all the problems
- with it. However, I have compiled 0.98.[345], and all of them exhibit a
- problem with Xwindows. I start up X, the screen goes into graphics mode,
- and then the machine hangs before the X background is drawn on the screen.
- I have seen posts concerning this, but not a solution. X's stderr output
- just includes the "no tcp socket" message, and that's it. It did not
- provide a more useful solution. This problem existed with tcp compiled
- in, and left out.
-
- System:
-
- intel 386/33
- 16 mb 60ns ram
- et4000 generic video
- 14.4 modem
- maxtor 7213a 213mb HD
- both floppies
- ami bios
- compiled with/without tcp, with math emu, no scsi

- If anyone has any info, I'd love to know. SLIP has advanced to the newer
- kernels, and I'd like to keep up with the SLIP progress. Thanks...
