- I do not know if this helps, but I have a Gateway 2000 486-DX,
- I think the BIOS is from Phoenix, but Ctrl-alt-del did not work.
- I do not know the technical reason, but if I disabled the BIOS
- shadowing in the CMOS setup it started working perfectly.
- (BIOS shadowing copies the contents of the ROM BIOS to RAM for faster
- access).
- I did that. As Linux does not use the BIOS it does not make any difference.
- In fact this gave me more than 100kb more of extended memory
- (as reported by the startup memory check and by Linux itself).
- Again, there is a technical reason for that, but I do not remember...

- for DOS, things (should) go slower, but it will depend on the
- applications. As I use Linux (almost) all the time...
