  22.            I am buying a machine which I am very excited about running
  23.            Linux on.  The following is the hardware configuration of the
  24.            machine.

  26.            - 486 DX/33 ISA Bus
  27.            - 8 MB 60 ns memory
  28.            - 256K Cache RAM 20 ns
  29.            - 213 MB Maxtor IDE drive
  30.            - No Cache on Hard disk controller

  32.            I don't believe any hardware so far would cause any problems.
  33.            What I am really confused about is the video.  The following
  34.            is the video hardware.

  36.            Mother board: OPTi chip set / AMI ROM BIOS
  37.                          1 Proprietary Local Bus video slot

  39.            Model:        Local Bus/ G-Host S3
  40.            Chip:         S3
  41.            Monitor:      Samsung 15" SyncMaster 15

  43.            I want to run X-Windows on this machine.  Does Linux support
  44.            Local Bus?  Is there a driver which can handle this video
  45.            configuration already written?  If these video option are not
  46.            supported using X-Windows will using ASCII mode still work?
  47.            Is the X-Windows support full or partial (color/monochrome)?

  49.            I am purchasing the above system for under $1900.00.  I think
  50.            this is a good price but if someone has a better price I
  51.            would love to here about it.

  53.            Also would appreciate any comments on buying a 486 SX/25
  54.            instead of the 486 DX/33.  I will be using Linux mostly but will
  55.            also run Windows and will use a CD/ROM some for my kid.
