  10. this is no doubt a dumb question if you know the
  11. answer, but since I don't, and can't find it, I'll
  12. risk the flames anyway :-)

  14. I've put together a binary-only beta of newspak1.1,
  15. which includes C-news/newsreaders/smail for Linux
  16. that all assume the same directory structure, and 
  17. therefore all work together.

  19. I made the package available for some testers, and
  20. one responded that the /lib/libso.2.2 they're
  21. compiled with isn't in his SLS 0.98-1 installation
  22. (probably true, since I'm a 0.97pl2 mcc-interim
  23. with jump4.1 added to the compiler).

  25. I'd like to recompile everything 'the right way'
  26. so that I can get a set of binaries out there
  27. that work now, and hopefully will continue to
  28. work with future versions of the kernel and compiler.

  30. What magic flag(s) do I need to specify in the Makefiles
  31. for all the pieces ? Is is as simple as adding '-jump' ?

  33. No flame intended at the compiler folks, but I've been
  34. unable to read the docs and understand them worth a
  35. damn.   I'm sure they're right...if you knew the answer
  36. already...but they're sure aren't clear enough to me
  37. at least.

  39. How 'do' you all compile your binary-only distribution
  40. of things ??? Any help would be appreciated.  For what
  41. it's worth, I'd appreciate any 'RTFM' answers to answer
  42. the question in their RTFM reply *and* point me to the
  43. documentation I either missed or didn't comprehend.

  49.   never get rid of DOS...anybody got a Quicken-for-X11R5 ???
