  10. I was curious as to what'd happen if i tried to compile the system
  11. as is on my Tandy 4800HD (486sx-20, 4 mb ram) laptop.

  13. Apparently, the compiles go to a certain point, then I receive a
  14. message from gcc and/or the system, telling me i'm out of memory.
  15.  
  16. 1) is there a program that monitors/reports the amout of actual free
  17. memory while linux is running?
  18.  
  19. 2) how much memory is "required" to make a new kernal?  I'm interested
  20. in applying patches 2-4 on the SLS 0.98.p1 system that I have.
