  20. Just a wild guess, but if you mean ".pcf", then the files are the new
  21. X11R5 "Portable Compiler Format" format. These are portable, but made
  22. for a particular system; i.e. they will work on any X11R5 system, but
  23. will have to be converted on the fly if the binaries are not directly
  24. compatible. This would explain the delay you describe.

  26. This may be way off, it was the "or whatever" that made me wonder
  27. if you meant ".pcf".
