- I got plenty of email response to my problems with TCP/IP in the SLS
- distribution. Everything is now working and I have moved on to the
- next set of problems...
-
- Here is what I had to do, for others in the same position...
-
- - Edit /usr/src/linux/net/tcp/Space.c and make sure the settings for
- the eth0 device are right for your ethernet card. If not, change
- them and recompile the kernel.
-
- - The /etc/inet/config binary is broken and needs replacing with the
- 0.8.1 version, which for some reason is in the attic on tsx-11,
- whereas the packages/tcpip version is the wrong one!!!
-
- - SLS has all the stuff in /etc/inet, but some of the binaries expect
- /usr/etc/inet, so you need a symbolic link in /usr to /etc.
-
- - Some of the config files refer to /usr/etc/inet too, so you need to
- edit rc.net and inetd.conf and change these to /etc/inet.
-
- That's the lot. ftp seems to want to be setuid root, although I have
- other problems too (I get "bind: I/O error" when I try some remote dir
- listings).
-
- Oh yes, and if someone could drop a hint on how to build libinet.a
- that would be useful :-)
-
- Thanks for all your help, Mark.
