- I am very familiar with MSDOS, but quite new to Unix. I have a problem
- that I need help with. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
-
- I just installed Linux 0.98 onto floppies using the rawrite utility. On
- booting, the system recognizes my floppies, although it does have a message
- saying unexpected interrupt, or something like that. After I login as
- root, I am unable to access the data off of my second drive, which I
- understand is /dev/fd1?? I tried to use mount, mtools, fdformat and mkfs,
- and none of them seem to work properly for me. I was able to use the tar
- command to read mtools from a rawritten disk off of that drive, but other
- than that, I can't seem to access anyting on that drive. The same goes for
- my hard drive.
-
- Is there some configuration file that I don't have set correctly to
- recognize my other drive, or is it something that I'm overlooking?
-
- After installing the mtools and creating the appropriate file in my /etc
- directory, I set up a link for mdir like so: ln -s mtools mdir. When I try
- to access the mdir command, it returns "cannot execute binary file". Is
- this a file attribute problem? I am totally confused.
-
- Thanks for any help. Please reply via Email to tsnoddy@nyx.cs.du.edu, or
- tsnoddy@world.std.com.
