- Hello,
-
- Has anybody tried to run windows3.1 with a voyetra midi card? I have
- decided to upgrade my sequencer software for my pc-clone. I've been
- downloading the various windows demos (cakewalk, cadenza), but have
- been unable to get any of them to function.
-
- System: 486SX, trident 8900 VGA, WD-RLL 1-1 Hard drive interface
- 2 serial/1 printer/joystick, genius mouse, 4M memory
- Dos 5.0/Windows 3.1
-
- Midi Interface: Voyetra 4001 with FSK sync (MPU401 compatable,
- 1987 vintage), using default interrupts/port (9/2 and 330).
-
- Synth: DX7s
-
- Windows setup:
-
- default setup as supplied by microsoft EXCEPT:
- trident 1024x768 video driver
- genius mouse
-
- Using either windows MPU401 driver or cakewalk driver, I am able to
- play notes to the DX7, but unable to record from the DX7 using the
- cakewalk-for-windows demo. Sometimes the message "MIDI BUFFER FULL"
- appears on the DX7. The "metronome" plays, but no midi information
- from the DX7 makes it back to the sequencer. The "sysex" download
- crashes immediately, saying it is out of memory.
-
- I was unable to get the Cadenza-for-windows demo to start either. It
- claimed "Couldn't set up port driver MUP_DRV.DLL with parametr 2."
-
- My old voyetra SP1 sequencer works fine, as does the voyetra DX7
- librarian. I have been unable to get any of the windows sounds to
- work.
-
- Attempts:
- removed every combination of the sound drivers in the windows
- environment
-
- changed the interrupts on both the Voyetra card and windows
- drivers.
-
- Tried to reset the card using a routine in the librian; Unable to
- get windows to allow a DOS program to access the midi card.
-
- Tried various shareware/public domain programs - The same: able to
- play, unable to record.
-
-
- Any help would be appreciated!
- Thanks,
-
- David.
