- I have been designing and building string instruments for a couple years
- and want to build a midi string instrument I have designed. I have no
- synth/computer *YET* but that is what this post is about. I need advice.
- Let me start from the top.
- The instrument is stringed with 4, 12" long guitar e etrings tuned
- to a uniform, high pitch. I will use some kind of pitch to midi device
- to generate the notes (which should be fast enough given the length, gauge,
- and high pitch of the string). It will also have a breath controller and
- a pitch bend device.
- I intend to buy a 486-33 as soon as I get out of school. I am
- looking for two things: an inexpensive pitch to midi device for 4 (or more)
- strings and legato mode capability; and a computer card synth that also
- supports legato mode. Also I will somehow have to get the +-0-5volt
- continuous information to the synth as well. I dont need a Synth-o-doom
- just something that sounds decent (multisound? scc-1?) and costs < $1000.00.
- The setup will be used for improvising and composing just for fun.
-
- Does anyone make something like these?
-
- ThanQ.
