- I have used this combination (v 1.5) some time now, and here are some of
- my opinions of these things:
-
- Piano-roll technique is easy to understand and to use, but
- I would prefer real notes to be used.
-
- There are enough "basic" properties, like you can define volume and
- pitch of a voice, tempo etc.
-
- Many of the instrument tones are good enough, but some of them
- are pure shit, you have to test them by yourself.
-
- The worst thing in the composer program is, that you have to do quite
- a lot of work, when you are going to make some "global" changes to some
- voice, or you would like to use some structure in the "composition",
- e.g:
-
- 1. I have a repeating 4 bars structure, where I have a couple of volume
- changes inside the structure. I have copied the structure and maybe
- transposed it and the total length of it is something like 24 bars.
- If I now would like to change the relative volume of the voice compared
- to the other voices I have to go trough all of the damn 24 bars, when the
- right way of doing this would be to change one overall volume value and
- the internal relative changes to this would follow accordingly.
-
- 2. The same example, but now I would like to shorten one note inside the
- structure and add a pause there. It's the same situation now, I have to
- go trough all of the bars and make the changes individually to every bar.
- And if you have to change all of the max. 11 voices, again there's a big
- job to be done
-
- But if you think about the price, I think this package is worth of it.

-
- PS. Does anybody know a composer program, where the "composition"
- can be handled and seen somehow structurally and there would be
- good "global" editing possibilities ?
