- Just to clear up some potential confusion, the SB Pro has a sampling
- rate of 22khz. This means that the highest frequency it can record is
- 11khz. This limitation is due to the fact that the SB Pro is an 8-bit card.
- I think it can play back 16 bit samples, but as I don't have one, I'm not
- sure.
- The 16 bit PAS-16 has a sampling rate of 44khz, which works out to a
- maximum recordable freq of 22khz. This means that if every link in your
- recording chain is up to snuff, you can record CD quality audio. An 8-bit
- card is roughly equivalent to a normal bias cassette. Be aware though that
- 16 bit recordings take up huge quantities of disk space.
- The Fusion pack comes with a PAS-16 and I think an NEC CDR-25. This is
- a portable cdrom drive with average specs. It is not one of the multi-spin
- speed demons like the 74 or 84 that NEC is known for. But since the PAS-16
- can cost around $200-230, $399 sounds good. Sorry, I can't help you track
- one down for $399, I have the PAS-16/NEC 84 kit that cost me a pound of
- flesh and my first-born.
- Have fun,
