  14.   I would like to experiment with re-programming automobile computers.
  15. I have seen ads for high performance chips in various
  16. auto mags which claim to increase a cars performance through
  17. the use of a new chip for the auto's computer.
  18.  
  19. My questions include:

  21. Do these chips have industry standard
  22.    EPROM or PROM configurations?
  23.  
  24. Do these chips contain merely a list of parameters for your engine
  25.    or is this info a real program?
  26.  
  27. What kind of CPU's do they use? Is it an ASIC or do car manufacturers
  28.    like to use standard microcontrollers (ie: the PIC series)?
  29.
