  14. I am sending mail from machine "local" to "group@remote" where "group"
  15. is a mail alias on machine "remote" expanded to something like
  16.  
  17. group:user1,user2,user3@host3,user4@host4.domain4,user5,...

  19. The problem is that when a connection is opened from "local" to
  20. "remote" if any of the user addresses in the group is not reachable
  21. at the time, the "local" sendmail gets a defered message and the
  22. message remains in the "local" mqueue.  At the next queue run, the
  23. process is repeated with most of the recipients receiving an additional
  24. copy of the mail message since the local machine is unaware that
  25. "group" is a group and resends the message as is.  Thus members of the
  26. group get multiple copies of the message (i.e. the process continues
  27. until all members of the group are reachable simultaneously).

  29. How can I get around this problem?  Ideally, I would want to send the
  30. message the first time to "remote"'s mqueue and have it responsible
  31. for delivering each copy individually or something of that nature.
