  30. The Center for Information Management Research (CIMR) is sponsoring a
  31. multi-media technology fair at the College of Computing at Georgia Tech
  32. in Atlanta Ga., on Wednesday, December 9 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  34. The purpose of the fair is to demonstrate state-of-the-art multi-media
  35. technologies to potential users, and other multi-media researchers.  
  36.  
  37. We will showcase technology from vendors of multi-media technology as well as 
  38. multi-media applications developers. You will see first-hand how this technology
  39. is currently being used, or how it will be used.  Networked applications,
  40. collaborative work, and innovative uses will be highlighted.  Also, the
  41. award-winning Olympics interactive video developed by Georgia Tech faculty and
  42. graduate students will be shown.

  46. CIMR was developed in 1988 at the University of Arizona and Georgia Institute 
  47. of Technology to promote research that focuses on the complexity of today's
  48. distributed organizations, the information systems that attempt to support
  49. those organizations, and the complexity of developing such information 
  50. systems.

  52. The Center conducts research on behalf of its member companies. In addition, 
  53. the Center provides additional consulting to its members upon request. 
  54. Four of the eight member companies are also supporting enhancement projects,
  55. specifically targeted at needs of those member companies.
  56.  
  57. In addition to annual meetings for the member companies, the CIMR conducts 
  58. annual technology fairs, bringing together researchers, advanced development
  59. engineers, and users of technology to showcase state of the 
  60. art tools appropriate to the development or use of information systems.  
  61. Planned future technology fairs will showcase CASE tools, collaboration 
  62. technologies and network management systems.
