- Viewlogic Systems markets an Electronic Design Automation system with
- an extension language based on Scheme, but with a C-like syntax,
- called Viewscript.
-
- The Cad Framework Initiative, which is a group of EDA vendors,
- integrators, and customers, has unofficially settled on Scheme as the
- basis for an industry-standard extension lanaguage. They are now
- working out the details of an alternate syntax that will probably be
- C-like. Once this effort is complete, there will probably be a number
- of EDA companies with products that have Scheme-based extension
- languages.
-
- The merits and pitfalls of this effort, by the way, have been
- discussed in this newsgroup in the past. Nevertheless, progress
- is being made.
