  14. Job Opening:
  15.     We have a job opening that will be hired through a
  16. government subcontractor to work at the Naval Research Laboratory
  17. (NRL) in Monterey.  NRL provides R&D in weather prediction for
  18. the Fleet Numerical Oceanography Center at the same site
  19. in Monterey.  We are looking for a qualified person to work with
  20. meteorological researchers on various data visualization/simulation
  21. projects.  Familiarity with current data visualization techniques
  22. and computer graphics concepts is a must.  Applicant will NOT be
  23. developing new algorithms, rather she/he will be choosing appropriate
  24. existing applications, assisting researchers in data preparation,
  25. design of visualization, implementation of simulations and animations,
  26. and video recording of results.  Applicant will also assist in
  27. setting up our Visualization Lab.  Also involved are various
  28. programming projects involving UNIX, X, C, and (maybe) Fortran.

  30. Requirements:
  31.     Familiarity with current data visualization methods and software
  32.     Communication skills (the human kind)
  33.     UNIX / C / X window system programming
  34.     B.A. + experience
  35.  
  36. Suggested:
  37.     Video/animation recording
  38.     SQL / database experience
  39.     Fortran
  40.     Meteorology or Oceanography background
  41.     Knowledge of the INTERNET world
  42.     Familiarity with scientific data formats
  43.     Sense of humor
