- I've used RenderMan extensively, and I've found the most convenient
- platform to run it on is the SGI Indigo, preferably with an ELAN graphics
- board in it. We run it here at Bucknell University on an Elan with 24-bit
- color. It's certainly not the best equipment we can get, but it does the
- job nicely. I learned on a Sun 3/60, and that was too slow. I know it also
- works on Personal Irises, as I've used it there, as well.
- From what I understand, the Elan will run you in the $25,000 range, but
- I don't know what that's equipped with. I don't know what price range you're
- looking, but that should give you a start. If you need more specifics,
- I can find out about them.
