- I have a question about DOS font managers. I'm thinking about
- getting a font manager so I can give up using clunky bit-mapped
- downloadable fonts and get scalable fonts. I have an HP IIP, but I
- might also want to use the scalable fonts on a Deskjet 500 and a
- Star Micronics NX 1000 nine pin printer. The packages I've heard
- about and am considering are:
-
- Bitstream Facelift
- MicroLogic Morefonts
- MicroLogic Truetype for DOS
- Lasertools Fonts-on-the-Fly (Intellifont fonts)
- Lasertools Primetype (type 1 postscript fonts)
-
- Does anyone have experience with any of these packages? (I realize
- that Primetype and Truetype for DOS are pretty new, but they're
- also the ones I'm most interested in.) How are they as far as
- 1) speed and 2) quality? Are there public domain Truetype fonts
- or Type 1 postscript fonts that might make Primetype or
- Truetype for DOS better choices than the others?
-
- The package I get MUST work with WordPerfect, and it would also be nice
- if it worked with Microsoft Word (or other DOS programs).
