  12. I switched from using vi (yuck) to emacs a few months ago
  13. and although I like emacs there are many things that I miss
  14. about vi.  Here is a list - perhaps someone can tell me where
  15. to FTP some files (*.el macros ...) to fix these problems:

  17. 1) a nroff style man page

  19. OK here come my really big gripes:

  21. 2) I _really_ want the equivalent of vi's ":set nu" mode,
  22.  
  23.    and vi's paren matching *on demand* i.e. you put the point
  24.    on a paren and press % and vi moves the point to the matching paren 
  25.  
  26.    ":set list" mode

  28.    I could live with a current point location displayed (line # 
  29.    and column #) in the mode line in place of vi's :set nu
  30.

  32. is there a FAQ for this group?  I looked on rtfm.mit.edu for one
  33. but found nothing.
