- I recently purchased a new 486 machine and transferred
- the 3 year old 2400 baud U.S. Robotics Sportster modem from my
- old 286 machine. Unfortunately, the modem no longer works properly
- with Procomm. When I type ATDT..., the modem dials, however when
- I use the dialing directory it mixes gibberish characters with the
- phone number and fails to dial. If I put in a long (>75msec)
- character string time delay, then the dialing directory works.
- However, I can't find any way to make file transfers work.
-
- Is there anyone who has experienced this problem or
- knows what the problem is? Is it possible that Procomm is too
- fast for the modem on the new machine? The modem seems to work
- OK with Mirror and a couple of other communications programs. It
- is now configured for COM2, while it was on COM1 on the 286.
- There is now a mouse on COM1. I have checked to make sure all
- the dip switches and jumper cables are set properly.
