  27. The Digicom Eagle modem as sold exclusively by Prodigy to its members
  28. uses the same Digicom chipset as the Scout series and the Quickcomm
  29. Spirit II modems. However, it uses different firmware. The factory
  30. defaults are also quite a bit different. The Eagle modems may only be
  31. temporary, but the Scout will continue to be Digicom's flagship modem,
  32. which can be expected to have innovations first.

  34. But I am convinced that the Eagle is a solid product, and were it not
  35. for the Scout, I would certainly give it serious consideration. As to
  36. the terms, it has to be ordered electronically through the Prodigy
  37. service and shipping is $11.75 for UPS 2nd day air plus sales tax in
  38. all states. Prodigy does not itself support the modem, but directs you
  39. to the original vendor of either the hardware or software. In fact the
  40. Prodigy (800) number salespeople (and also the supervisor) tried to tell
  41. me that no such offer for Digicom Eagle modems is available on their 
  42. service. Apparently they dont use their own product?
